Updates (or lack thereof)

Posted by John

Hey everyone, John here. Life has been very hectic for me these past few months, and honestly, school comes first. I started putting off schoolwork to type of some of the entries and I realized the negative affect it was having on my grades. Unfortunately, the courses I am currently taking involve a lot of research and writing of really really long papers. After doing all that on almost a daily basis, I have no motivation to type up the entries from Matts journal. However, the semester ends pretty soon. This should give me more time to type up his entries. I apologize for the lack of updates and I appreciate your readership. I hope that you continue to check in for updates. They will be coming again soon.

Thanks
John

    John,

Let me begin by saying, I don’t want you to think I’m an asshole. However, I must say, I think you ought to have considered what you were getting into before dedicating this page to Matthew. I realize your life comes first, but I don’t think this is fair to your friend’s memory to never make any time to update whenever you started this stating it would be done in “real time” on your “about” page. I know what it’s like, I’m in college as well, and I also know that no matter how much course work you have, you still have enough free time to type up an entry the length of Matthews. I guess all I’m saying is, perhaps it’s better to stick to your guns than to be wishy-washy about things like this. You ought to decide, do you want to be reasonably regular with posting or do you really just not have the time? And if the latter is the case then you should simply stop doing this site because this is not something you do half-baked. I don’t know, maybe I’m just some judgemental prick who is generalizing your life too much. All I know is, if I died, and I asked a friend to post my entries online, I’d like it if he actually did or just didn’t at all.

    Please, think about it.
    Sincerely,
    Brandon

    hey john

I know your really busy but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you doing this. I read Matthew’s journals in like half amazment. Reading them just makes me want to meet him. He’s terriblly interesting, and I can relate to him in more ways than one.

I know your busy, but please find the time to keep posting them. Your helping so many people by doing so, even though you don’t realize it.

i agree with brandon up there. i don’t want to sound like an asshole either, but i think it’s almost disrespectful to your friend and the whole idea to just never update. school has been out for the last month and a half, so you can’t even use that as an excuse as to why the last update was so long ago. even if you took a winter course, you’d have plenty of time to type up an entry here and there considering each entry is like 50 lines TOPS.

i think it’s a great idea, you’ve got a lot of readers (myself included), and you must be a great guy for even considering the burden of typing this up. however, if you’re going to post one entry every month or so instead of on time, then i would suggest removing a few promises from the description page or just stop doing it all together. again, i agree with brandon when he said, “All I know is, if I died, and I asked a friend to post my entries online, I’d like it if he actually did or just didn’t at all.”

sorry for sounding like a jerk, but i hope you understand.
